Many many years ago a friend asked me to help her find some clothing from Africa, she knew I had family and friends on the continent.

I obliged and so the journey that became All Things African started, more people approached, more people were provided for, it became far more than a personal favour, it became almost a community service, now many communities reach out and spread the word, what was once a hobby became a passion and also a full time job.

All Things African became a source for African products in Europe but also a product outlet for artisans on the African continent, personal relationships were built  and what was a personal favour to one friend became a source of support for many.

Sure it is a business - kind of - but also a passion, we ensure that African artisans get a fair deal, far better than most so called fair trade claims offer, yes many of the items you will see here cost less than they would in Africa but we are bound by currency conversion and shipping costs, we cannot possibly supply products in Europe at African prices, we need to eat too. All Things African consumes a lot of time and energy of many people not just me but people in Africa that source and ship, people in Europe that help spread the word and many others too numerous to name.

If you, like me wish to support African producers and help others to help themselves then All Things African is the place for you, if you seek the cheapest possible then perhaps it is not, you decide, but please - get to know All Things African first, understand our goals, help make a difference for those in Africa trying to make ends meet in countries where the support we take for granted in Europe does not exist.
